Hi every1, This work unit R27_4.5-5M_wu_12374_1
was 80%+ done, shut the computer down and guess what...... work unit was back down to 0.00% done. Almost 2 days spent on this WU.

Come on guys (& gals) electricity is to expensive to waste and i am not going to crunch SRBase if there are no checkpoints in place.

Sorry guys and gals,
Gentilli.

Checkpoints are every 10min, see FAQ. Time will not be saved after restart BOINC/Computer.

Select the shorter tasks if you are going to switch off or re-boot your computer.

So it's just a BOINC bug, but llr64 resumes from the last checkpoint after restart, right?

Select the shorter tasks if you are going to switch off or re-boot your computer.

Why? I'm not sure work is lost if you shutdown your system.

The current wrapper code was not designed to save the time, thats why the project has fixed credits. There is nothing lost after a restart.

Hi again everyone, i understand what you are saying but it is after a restart, that is when we need that check point to work.......... If the electricity cuts and we have 5 days spent on a WU...................... get my point.

What is the use.

Thank you,
Gentilli

Pls read the FAQ carefully, to be more precise I give you an example:

706*27^4010654-1, bit: 7600000 / 19070219 [39.85%]. Time per bit: 82.442 ms.
706*27^4010654-1, bit: 7650000 / 19070219 [40.11%]. Time per bit: 40.580 ms.
15:01:24 (6128): wrapper (7.5.26012): starting
15:01:24 (6128): wrapper: running llr.exe ( -d -oPgenInputFile=input.prp -oPgenOutputFile=primes.txt -oDiskWriteTime=10 -oOutputIterations=50000 -oResultsFileIterations=99999999)
Base prime factor(s) taken : 3
Resuming N+1 prime test of 706*27^4010654-1 at bit 7691137 [40.33%]
Using AVX FFT length 1680K, Pass1=448, Pass2=3840, a = 3

706*27^4010654-1, bit: 7700000 / 19070219 [40.37%]. Time per bit: 159.150 ms.
706*27^4010654-1, bit: 7750000 / 19070219 [40.63%]. Time per bit: 28.163 ms.

Checkpoints are every 10min, in this snipped you can see "Resuming at bit"
The time not saving and restarting from 0 is only a cosmetic issue of the wrapper code but if you are running a 5h WU and restart after 1h it will only be running 4h not 5h again.
