It seems I can do this if and when I even find a decent Prime. As I have not done so yet I will wait till I find one then do the set up to submit it.

3) Message boards : Number crunching : Odd issue(s) with srbase6 WU's (Message 4971)
Posted 19 Feb 2019 by Profile Conan
I have a 4 core Phenom that is showing similar behavior.

I have aborted 6 work units so far that have got as high as 99.993% but are sitting there spinning there wheels doing nothing at all.
Zero CPU is being used but all 4 cores are held up.
The longest one I caught was over 10 hours.

They are fighting with a high priority project at the moment, so are using 3 cores not 4 but still if I don't come by and check then the WU could be stuck for a very long time.

And often on any of the WU that I get it can show multi-threading has worked or it has not, seems a bit random. The run time and CPU times are often the same.

Have just aborted a Riesel Base - Short work unit that has a RUN Time of over 21 Hours with a CPU time of just 20 Seconds.

I did suspend and restart the WU but this made no difference.

The longest Short I have had.

Thanks PDW,

Adjusted that line, so we will see what happens.

I have downloaded and am now running a Long2 work unit. After 8 hours it shows over 14% done, which is a lot quicker than before.

@ PDW,
I am showing all 4 threads on a 4 core computer being recorded at WUProp, 8 hours done and showing 31.6 hours, which seem right to me.

I do have an extra line in my app_config.xml file that may be what is different to what you have.
I have
<cmdline>-t4</cmdline>
<avg_ncpus>4</avg_ncpus>

Not sure if this might be how I am getting all threads picked up or not.

Anyway all seems to be working again,

Thanks

I got lucky with that long running task of mine, it ran for over 972,000 seconds (270 hours or 11.25 Days), and I managed to get it back first, so got the points.

That is what single thread does, here's to MultiThreading doing it a lot quicker.

Have to wait now for BOINC to grab new tasks, could be a few days on that machine, it will have to let other work run first.

Yes, well, after doing the app_config.xml, I now get nothing but errors.

I will check to see if it is in the wording >-t4< or as I have it >-t 4<, like I have at Primegrid.

Interesting, I didn't know about the multi-threading on SRBase, I knew about it on Primegrid and have implemented it there.

I have an SRBase Long2 running now for over 10 Days, 4 days past deadline, saying it is at 98.692% and 3.15 hours to go.
Those 3.15 hours will take 1 to 2 days at least to run (they are not very accurate estimates).

The computer is in HT mode (an Intel Xeon) and I wont be changing that.

I will however use that link and get my app_config.xml file created and installed on each computer running this project, in the next few days.

That link is dated to last year, how observant am I?

Thanks for the link and the information.

When you try to attach a new host to this project, your fisrt step is to see if the project is in the listing contained within BOINC manager.
When you select SRBase is shows the url to connect with is the old one without the hyphen (http://srbase.myfirewall.org/sr5/) instead of the new one with the hyphen.

I am running AMD Phenom's which are not a very fast computer compared to the current crop of Intel's, but I still can get from 89 cr/h + on the long work units.
The difference might be that I have gotten used to their speed where as others would think they are way too slow.

They still get the job done however.

This project is a similar to PrimeGrid, so as is often stated on their forums, disable Hyperthreading if you have it turned on it chews up resources and reduces performance on "llr" type work units.

If you already have this option turned off then I don't know what would be causing your issue.

llr work units don't use a lot of memory so it maybe as rebirther has said your CPU is being pushed a bit too hard.

Have you used the same e-mail that you use on all other projects that you run?
Your e-mail is the main link between projects, so if it is different then there are no projects to 'cross-link'.

I don't see any other projects listed under your id and no computers added to this project yet.

Are these new sub-projects, average2 and average3, going to added as separate apps on our account page or are they added into the Sierpinski / Riesel Base average total?

I am asking are they going to be another two badges to chase?

Thanks for your hard work Rebirther

To get the right results back in top users and top hosts I have reset all RACs to 0 again due the last R3 bug in template.

This would explain the post I just made in Number Crunching.

Last I looked the top 40 users still had their RAC, 41 onwards lost their RAC.

The RAC levels were coming down, slowly but coming down.

I am wondering how my RAC overall has gone from over 7,000 to 0.00?
Also how all my computers RAC has also gone to 0.00? When all are returning work.

Checking the Statistics page under RAC all users from 41 onwards have all been dropped to 0.00 RAC.
The first 40 still have their RAC.

EDIT:: Rebirther has just posted in the NEWS section about resetting the RAC of all users to get things back on a even keel after the R3 credit bug.
