1) Message boards : Number crunching : Web site is VERY SLOW to load & CANNOT UPLOAD completed work (Message 4603)

Dear Dr. Who Fan,

please take into your consideration this project is run on a home based computer, not on a serverframe.

This whole project is based on a single persons' effort, and he (rebirther) has kept it up for 4 years now.

Right now rebirther has created a whole ton of small "Sierpinski base" workunits. These are finished in ~2 minutes, and every download/upload uses a bit of his bandwidth.

Also the operating system might limit the amount of open connections (i guess it is 256 on Windows)

I am using avast - I had to shut down web protection completely so boinc and any browser can reach your site.
The problem is that "myfirewall.org" is known for a f'n lot of virus-spreading sites...
If you can change your webhoster most of us will be glad...
3) Message boards : Number crunching : app_config file (Message 1423)

A very easy way to make a core on your 8-core free:
Inside Preferences - computing preferences - usage of processor change the following line:

"On multicore system use at max 87,50% of the processors" - that is exactly 7 of 8 cores.

Funny thing of boinc is the cpu usage of gpu projects totally ignore this value.

gpu projects often use near no cpu and the "sporadic" cpu spikes can be done by the last core.
(if you do EINSTEIN then do an app_config there with cpu 1/gpu 1 - it is doing 80% of work on cpu and only small part gets gpu'd)

Listening to music works, watching vids I suggest setting gpu to suspend ^.^
