3) Message boards : Number crunching : Only one System will down load work (Message 8040)
Posted 26 Dec 2021 by Profile Bill F
I have four Win 10 systems and I just re-added one system because the other 3 had not down loaded work since prior to Nov 6th. The system that I re-added is my oldest, but if does have an NVIDIA GPU. It down loaded two tasks right away one TF and one Long.

Suggestions on why my other systems are not downloading work ? Am I missing a library or something ?

Thanks
Bill F

I can see that all your hosts have work, TF is limited to supported GPU

Thank you for the clarification that TF is GPU only application. I have been running the project for three years and never caught that. There may be other users that might change their system assignments if the knew.

Could you consider adding (Tasks GPU Only) behind the TF name on the Application page and Server Status page ?

Thank you again have a blessed Christmas and New Year

5) Message boards : News : invalid certificate from BOINC clients (Message 7983)
Posted 5 Nov 2021 by Profile Bill F
OK, I don't have to "FIX" any other BIONC apps like this.

The site should issue this update to its software itself, but my client can't even connect, and I am not looking to report or get WU's at this point.

It would be easier to delete the project and reinstall after a while.

Delete will not help. You could update BOINC by the latest version or replace the cert file

The new 64 bit version of BOINC for Windows is 7.16.20 available at

Yes, the CPU is very slow and has no AVX.

Thank you I will bring a newer system up on this project and pull my older system with GPU off of it.

I had a number of Reisel Short tasks download and the first 3 to start all went to 100% slowing near the end. They held at 100% and then restarted at 0% with no time remaining and a new count started on Time elapsed. I have not seen this action before.

Sample task
Application Riesel Base - short 0.22 Name R904_200-250k_wu_36729

Suggestions anyone ?

Thanks

check your stderr.txt, you can see the status.

Well one finally finished with what seems like a very long run time.

https is working now, I cant do something with the pics warnings. The only open thing is the auto-renew of the certificate. I will test this later.

Thank you for your efforts in doing this upgrade. While I wish that we did not need it... in today's world we do need it.

Ok I understand now... your priority's are correct science first.

Maybe someday with a new system or a new OS load from donations perhaps it will be possible.

Thank you again.

Understood that it might create an issue, but it would improve security for both the Project and the Volunteers.

It is also the direction that many of the active Projects are now going.

Please consider.

Thank You
