I seriously hope Syracuse University has sanctioned 950+ workstations for this project, otherwise somebody is in serious trouble. Just my 2 cents

The same thing happens to me occasionally, except the hang is in the "uploading" phase. I just suspend the project, reboot the computer, restart Boinc and "resume". This fixed it every time.
