1) Message boards : Number crunching : Recalculated WU (Message 3957)
Posted 7 Nov 2017 by Crystal Pellet
The resend was returned after his renewed deadline and in the mean time the original was returned successfully.
When the resend was returned before the deadline and before the original returned, the resend task would have got credit and not the original coming in too late and after the resend.
When the original task would have returned too late, but before the resend and the resend would have returned on time before his deadline, both would have got credit.

Resend task:
Report deadline 5 Nov 2017, 16:40:42 UTC
Received 7 Nov 2017, 2:08:28 UTC

Original task:
Report deadline 31 Oct 2017, 16:37:52 UTC
Received 1 Nov 2017, 1:04:59 UTC

XP but you can also try it on vista with:

llr -d -q"83739*78^100000-1"

for a test.

The result:

Base factorized as : 2*3*13
Base prime factor(s) taken : 13
Starting N+1 prime test of 83739*78^100000-1
Using zero-padded FFT length 80K, Pass1=320, Pass2=256, a = 3
83739*78^100000-1 is not prime. RES64: 5BD3DD3274952B25. OLD64: 137B97975DBF816C Time : 948.420 sec.

Can someone test this file on winxp 32bit if its possible to execute it without an error?

Download

Should it be XP or is Vista 32bit also usable for a test.

If so, how to run the llr.exe? From commandline with some parameter?
6) Message boards : Number crunching : Error on long - but it finished the llr (Message 614)
Posted 12 Jan 2015 by Crystal Pellet
The task is aborted by BOINC, because after creating the finish file, the process was still alive after 10 seconds.

In normal circumstances after the finish the cleaning up etc. is done in a fraction of a second and the process exits.
7) Message boards : Number crunching : R3's flowing (Message 532)
Posted 5 Jan 2015 by Crystal Pellet
Since the well of long running tasks dried the R3 tasks are flowing with a distribution speed of 357 tasks/minute.

Update: 390 tasks/minute
Update: 417 tasks/minute
Update: 435 tasks/minute

Another method is to reduce your minimum work buffer to below the deadline of the short running tasks, so e.g. 0.1 days.

With the app_config.xml you depend on a constant flow of the long running type of tasks.
If no long runnings are coming anymore, you have maxed out the number of short running tasks and will have idle cores when no other BOINC projects active.
