21) Message boards : Number crunching : short deadlines cause panic mode (Message 1727)

Yes, I have the app_config.xml set to reserve a full thread per GPU. he problem is not that the GPUs do not get enough CPU cycles. The problem is with BOINC scheduling. When CPU tasks go into panic mode, they take over all available threads, and only one GPU tasks will run.

Can anything please be done about the extremely short deadlines? They are causing all tasks to run in panic mode, which messes with multiple GPU machines, causing all but one to sit idle.

I was wondering if there is any support for the Raspberry Pi ARM processors. I have a whole army of RPi's with nothing to do.

Enigma@home http://www.enigmaathome.net/ has a dedicated Raspberry Pi application and would probably appreciate help from your army...

Please let us know when that happens. I will put my machines on NNT until the so I don't just burn up tasks.

Can you try to edit your client_state.xml and change the <rsc_fpops_bound>8.2548e14</rsc_fpops_bound> to a much higher level e30?

I think the limit was not enough. Just for testing.

I could not find "rsc_fpops_bound" in the client_state.xml for any srbase tasks. In fact, I see no sorbs tasks at all. I see all the tasks for all the other projects that are downloaded to my machine. Andy I see their rsc_fpops_bound values. Very odd!

Sure. Just tell me where to get the values?

Everything ok for me (64 bit)

That is because your tasks are finishing in under 240 seconds. It appears that the tasks self-abort after hitting 240 seconds of run time.

I am running three OS X machines, all errors so far. I will suspend them for now. Let me know when to try again.

Here is a sample:

I am getting a similar error across all 11 of my win XP64 virtual machines. Here is a sample:

http://srbase.myfirewall.org/sr5/result.php?resultid=44554

Stderr output

<core_client_version>7.4.32</core_client_version>

FWIW, it is working fine on my win 7 64 VM. And also on my native win 7 64 machines.

I have attached a couple OS X machines, but no work for those available yet.

I have a mac, but didn't attach them at the time because there was no OSX app. I will attach now.
