New TF multiGPU apps deployed (issues fixed)
(Message 9670)
Posted 9 Feb 2024 by IDEA Let's see if it makes the Top 30 :) Reached number 30 in the host ranking! So the multiGPU app is working as expected. Let's see if it can get to 25 before other users edit their cc_config and get more than one GPU working. -- Martin |

Hi, yes, I'm sure. The 1660 Super I added was one that had been repaired by Asus and is slower than it was before it was repaired :( So I could see which WU was on which card because of the 60 second difference in processing speed. Currently ranked 45 with 915k RAC -- which isn't possible with a single 1660 Super. Let's see if it makes the Top 30 :) -- Martin |

Posted 5 Feb 2024 by IDEA Thank you for this. I saw the notice in the BOINC client this evening, added a second Nvidia card to a Windows 10 box, updated the cc_config and it all works perfectly. Cheers -- Martin |

No Apple M1 apps?
(Message 9166)
Posted 16 Oct 2023 by IDEA The existing Intel Mac apps worked fine with M series chips -- faster using M1 than Intel. Everything was working OK... now nothing :( |

No Apple M1 apps?
(Message 9165)
Posted 16 Oct 2023 by IDEA The existing Mac app worked fine with Apple M series chips. Why has the Mac app been removed if it doesn't have a new version? My Windows box doing TF has also stopped working too -- it is asking for Nvidia WUs but gets 0 sent. |

No Apple M1 apps?
(Message 9152)
Posted 15 Oct 2023 by IDEA My M1 Macs were crunching through WUs faster than the Intel Macs. Now there is no work for them. Can you fix this problem, or do I need to retire from this project? |

Sudden credit loss
(Message 7180)
Posted 30 Dec 2020 by IDEA I'm down 2.5M from the first crash and another 1.5M now. If you can top up my total it'd be great. But a server fix would be would be welcome as the RAC losses can't be adjusted like the credit total :( Only one more day of 2020... fresh start in 2021 :) Wishing everybody a better New Year! |

Sudden credit loss
(Message 7061)
Posted 29 Nov 2020 by IDEA I'm down by 3,000,000 TF. Also lost 3 new Linux hosts that I brought on-line yesterday afternoon :( Got them running again at 2am and should be hitting 6m credits a day by tomorrow. Thanks for getting things moving again quickly. |

Linux GPU errors
(Message 7013)
Posted 23 Nov 2020 by IDEA A little confusing, but also rewarding to use with old Macs and PCs :) My next job is to get boinc to recognise a Thunderbolt eGPU. Ubuntu has no problem utilising the eGPU, but boinc says "no GPU found" no matter if it is Nvidia or ATI :( I have a question about your 3080. Have you tried running multiple tasks at the same time? I would have thought that two, or perhaps even 4 at a time would be more efficient because the time spent ending/beginning each tasks is significant when processing tasks so quickly? |

Linux GPU errors

Posted 22 Nov 2020 by IDEA The other cuda files are in /usr/lib (not lib64) and in subdirectories by host architecture. OK, this now works! The file needs to go in /usr/lib Thank you for sending the file link. |

Linux GPU errors
(Message 6999)
Posted 22 Nov 2020 by IDEA I tried this last night with a libcudart.so.10.1.243 copied from another host and renamed to 10.1, but it didn't work in /usr/lib64. So I created the missing directories and copied it to /usr/local/cuda/lib64 (the location on the other host) and that didn't work either. Now trying again with your file copied to both locations. Still getting computation errors. Do you know that when you install the latest Nvidia driver it removes the entire cuda directory from /usr/local ? It's not just this file that is missing. Everything has gone. |

Posted 21 Nov 2020 by IDEA The FAQ isn't easy to understand :( The GPU info is: CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 960 (driver version 455.38, CUDA version 11.1, compute capability 5.2, 1993MB, 1952MB available, 2618 GFLOPS peak) The FAQ says I will be sent Cuda111 and Cuda100 tasks. How do I stop the Cuda100 tasks from causing computation errors? The FAQ says to copy a missing file to /usr/lib64 -- but that file is deleted when you install Cuda11 Nvidia Drivers. |

Posted 21 Nov 2020 by IDEA Not sure if this is related, but I converted a Windows 7 host to Linux Mint and it successfully completed more than 40 GPU tasks on an NVIDIA GTX 960 but then started to fail with computation errors. The error message is: ./mfaktc.exe: error while loading shared libraries: libcudart.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Host ID is 211122 Anybody seen this before and know if it's a simple problem to fix? Rebooting didn't solve it. |

Posted 17 Nov 2020 by IDEA Yes, working with GTX GPUs again. Excluding the 1660 would be annoying. Do you consider the 1660 GPU unsuitable for future tasks? |
