Your personal background.
I'm a computer guy, a trained engineer, and amateur astronomer. I've been doing distributed computing with SETI since the early days. I've also done Folding@Home. My team, Project Blue Book, hooked back up with SETI in 2004.
Your opinions about SRBase
I got interested in WUProp - which i recommend to everyone. I was looking for more apps, and srbase has 11. That's over half of a star.
I also crunch Amicable, PrimeGrid, and other worthy math projects. I still look for aliens, pulsars, analyze asteroids, simulate the galaxy, help solve various medical problems, and so on.
If there's a way to make a useful GPU app, i'd be all over it. One of the things i'm currently looking at is a new computer language: julia. It appears to be aimed at math, claims near C language performance, and can target GPUs. It can produce standalone compiled apps. I'm not an expert at it as yet.
