Message 6395 - Posted: 17 May 2020, 12:28:44 UTC

The windows update has automatically restarted the PC in the night (was disabled), the database crashed. My 2 big backups of the VM are also corrupt including the last backups of the database. Unfortunately mysqdumper cannot import the correct numbers of tables so I used phpmyadmin with success, the last backup was from 13th so we have lost 4 days (not the reported work). I had no hope to reactivate the project but I did.

Pls stop all your old WUs. I will give credit for all the lost work. If you have registered in the last 4 days and your account is not recognized pls reregister.

I must remove all the current work and recheck all bases which results are missing. Also the TF work need to be resetup (not all I think).

Hard times, shit happens especially Windows10

Hi reb, Windows 10, say no more :(

I stopped when I saw my account was back in olden times !

Fortunately I was only doing TF and SR Average WUs.
From the last Free-DC stats, my highest Boinc client figure which was updating mostly every 30 seconds so would be quite close, plus the completed work on my machines waiting to report can you amend these 3 values please:

TF = 274,795,836
S/R Base Average = 3,035,424
Total = 338,843,676

Completed work not uploaded was 90k for TF and 13,580 for Average.

Thanks

Edit: As you have started new work I have noted that the uplift should be as follows please:

TF plus 24,906,500
S/R Base Average plus 50,080
Total plus 24,956,580

Thx for all your support, with win7 I had never any problems, a power cut or restart without closing the VM will ever crash the db.

If you know anyone who can write a script to import the latest stats into the db that would be fine, this will spend me a lot of time. BOINC can only export them. I will ask again the devs as in the past.

Hi reb, I see a nightmare was happened again!

Lost credits:
TF: 145000.
SR: 214540

I guess it's time to end the experiment with Win 10 as host system for project server VM. Win 10 as a server is poor solution at all. No good in future, we're waiting for permanent trouble, headache and many ribaldry words only.
Maybe it's worth consider migrating the host OS to Windows Server if You don't wanna roll back to Windows 7 (yeah, not all games can be run, but something is better than nothing). Or buying new (and not so powerful) machine for dedicated boinc server. Of course, both solutions will require additional money. But honestly, I don't see anything better.

Last Free-DC stat 44,319,701
Currrenton account 44,225,701

What should we do with work waiting to be uploaded but can't?

I have enabled it again, maybe forgot, lets see. I will change the credits after I have all missing results checked.

FreeDC-stats has now been updated where you can see all negative values. Maybe there’s a way to request Bok to make an export of all clients so you can cross reference with request over here. Here’s my previously requested 69,500: https://stats.free-dc.org/user/srb/2182

I hope you're keeping your spirits up in the wake of this disaster ! I support you 100%. I wish you good luck to ensure the continuity of this extraordinary project!

As far as I'm concerned, I would prefer that you don't add the missing credits to me. I prefer to receive credits only for calculations that have been used for something. So I don't want to receive credits for lost calculations.

Can we continue the calculations right away or do we have to wait a few hours or a few days ?

Thanks for the good words and yes, scientific results are more useful than the credits, there was only a less lost in WUs which were in progress, the rest are in the results folder.

Iam checking the base results one by one and resetup, this could take some time.

What version of Win10 are you using and what build, most of mine are Pro/1909 and don't reboot without asking.

Perhaps you missed a reset of one of the three deferral spots.

Creds lost; 6073760 almost all TF.

Thanks and Good Luck

The same version as you but the postponed update reached the time.

Strange, mine give me the 'I need to reboot' message and then wait.

Stuff like this is why I've kept win7 on my daily driver.
