CPU TDP 95W
Cooler TDP 250W
Win7 X64
2x8Gb RAM
BAM set to use 75% of CPU time. Also on project.
The host (100501, visible by admin) have only OS/Java/Framework, nothing else.
This host is only used to crunch.

When I run SR with other project, CPU overheating (72°C !!!)
I was thinking some incompatibilty and/or wrapper using more than normal.

So, I runs SR fully alone, on 8 WU
The same, not depending the kind of WU !!! (short, long, avg,.....)

Someone the same ? Or idea ?
It happens only with SR. Sometimes with NFS when there are 4 project running.
But never so worst

SRBase is hot, best run in the cold winter months to keep you warm.

If your cooling is struggling, start with 1 thread for SRBase and increase the number of threads running SRBase until you get to a heat level you are comfortable to maintain 24/7.

I just reduce my CPU usage in BOINC to at most 75% of CPU time, that usually does it. But also I allow up to 79°C. With SRBase I always have to keep an eye on the average core temps. Piriform Speccy is a good util for that.

I already have try your proposal, it not help very much !
I have let run only three WU on 8 cores.
Nothing else running. This host is ONLY for crunching.
Three WU running immediately to 70°C !!!
And i repeat it is not a problem of cooling failure.

What frequency have you tried?
Disable Turbo Boost.
Disable Hyper Threading or use 50% CPU.
Run 4 tasks, but...
Start from 2.0GHz and increase by little steps till you reach 70C.
Tjunction for these chips is around 98C, so don't worry.
Leave that frequency and good crunching!

P.S. My i7-4770k @3.5GHz is getting 70C with TB off. If I decrease frequency @2.1GHz, temperature drops to 50C. You should observe something similar.

If you are on Windows then Throttle Stop is a great general clock control and for BOINC there is TThrottle which analyzses PID's, has a database of known BOINC WU's and pauses them for a few cycles in order to keep the core temps at the setting you pick. Also, allows maximum and minimum CPU usage that works way better than the built in BOINC version. Also works for many GPU projects (not very well on Collatz).

Not sure if there are Linux versions available but probably for TThrottle at least.
