hi,

12+hr of runtime and no checkpoints for long3 WUs seems a bit offreality. please change it asap.

There are checkpoints every 10min (see FAQ). On Linux and Mac you cant see it in stderr.txt.

on top. I got 5 task 2 days ago. let 'em crunch yesterday around 2 hrs.
today they started at 0 sec
today a I got 1 new task. this task has 10 minutes les cpu time and 0,7% less progress.

not sure what you think your code is doing, but at least long3 is NOT checkpointing.

not sure what you think your code is doing, but at least long3 is NOT checkpointing.


Believe me its working only the runtime is not saved by the wrapper and restarting from 0 after a BOINC restart.

This is what BOINC says. You are talking about numbers that are not correct.

You must see stderr.txt on your slots directory, as rebirther said, that it's not where BOINC gets its numbers.


If you think it's not like that, try to restart BOINC when work is complete at 95% when you get a smaller wu (e.g. 20-minute wu). You will see restarted work is completed within a couple of minutes.

Well, this is good to know since I was forced to upgrade Windows 10 from 10240 to newest to get this GPU working and it seemed like the machine lost 42 CPU days of computation time after the restart. (Shouldn't have aborted those average2's that showed 0% progress after restart that were after their deadline)

How do you get BOINC client to report the actual progress upon restart?

While the save points are being made, not all WU's are using the savepoints upon restart.

I have a WU that's deadline was March 5th on my testing machine. The machine's needed to be reset most every day for various reasons.

This WU has had 20+ hours per day of CPU time, and been reset most every day, and it's still not done after 10 days. It's not using savepoints.

If you can dissect it and figure out what's not working, that'd be great. I suspect several other long3's that got restarted on BOINC reset did a full day longer and didn't use a save point. Let me know what I can do on my side to analyze this WU.

ich machs kurz auf deutsch...
wenn du den link anklickst bekommst du den ganzen stderr
alles eig in ordnung, aber lange zeiten und manchmal neu gestartet aber nicht bis zum checkpoint gekommen

Lol, it actually completed and got credit; the grace period worked.

I am sure that the CPU time on this is actually way more than it shows.
