Hi Reb! I hope you are on the lookout that new mandatory updates will be coming this week?

I have blocked them with update manager. I hope this is working.

What if it doesn't? A backup is always needed.

Doesnt help. 2 updates are postponed now to July. I have changed something in the group policy and this should help. I hope this is the last time to restart the server due stupid updates which I dont want.

Message 6584 - Posted: 12 Jun 2020, 17:50:08 UTC - in response to Message 6577.

There is a way to prevent the automatic restart by making changes in the registry.
There are four policies to activate.
Here is a description and tips, in German:
https://www.computerbase.de/forum/threads/windows-update-automatischer-neustart-verhindern-auf-manuell-umstellen.1951576/

The values for the Registryfile are:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
"SetAutoRestartRequiredNotificationDismissal"=dword:00000001
"AutoRestartRequiredNotificationDismissal"=dword:00000002
"SetAutoRestartNotificationConfig"=dword:00000001
"AutoRestartNotificationSchedule"=dword:0000001e

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
"NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:00000001
"NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000000
"AUOptions"=dword:00000003
"ScheduledInstallDay"=dword:00000000
"ScheduledInstallTime"=dword:00000003

I did this with gpedit.msc -->automatic updates config (point 2) without any reg changes.

I'm sorry, these changes are not safe either. I've tested it on three machines in five days. But now a PC has automatically updated itself anyway.
Now I'm testing solution two, have opend an editor and wait.
