Message 10679 - Posted: 7 May 2025, 19:25:17 UTC - in response to Message 10676.

I had done the same, but I did it once again, and it changes nothing : as soon as I run the command to execute the app I have a popup message (on top of the terminal) that tells me the message I explained above, with only 2 options : terminate or delete the file (!) so I choose terminate and (of course)

zsh: killed ./prst_boinc -boinc -fermat -check strong "50004228*85^2000+1"

I have macOS 15.3.1 on an intel iMac.

I don't know why but the img tag does not display the image I shared here on the forum ?

Unfortunately it took over 1 year to find someone which can compile a mac app, after the FB challenge I got one with the latest gwnum lib included. The results looks great but need more testers with different hosts and macos versions.

Also, you might want to know Mac users version of the BOINC client; I'm running BOINC v7.24.4
If you run the v8.x version of BOINC for PrimeGrid, on the Mac, you can't run GPU tasks, so the Mac users can't move to v8.x on PrimeGrid w/o losing access to GPU tasks :(

I have latest boinc version on my Intel iMac (even the last dev version to test docker app from LHCdev but there are issues) and I have no problem running boinc GPU apps ? I did some PG "not long ago", I must test again but I'm surprised.

Or is this an issue with M silicon macs ?

You can try Riesel Base app now to see if all is running as expected.

I don't have access to an Intel Mac, but GPU tasks don't work on Apple silicon . . .

"GPU tasks don't work on Apple silicon" some (very few) projects have implemented GPU tasks for M macs with apple GPU and AFAIK it works.

SRBase didn't do this so why are you saying this here ?

And by the way the new mac CPU app (for the boinc project) is working just fine :)

They do indeed work, but like with other GPU tasks, the platform needs to be supported for the given work unit task type. I've been smashing Einstein Apple GPU compatible tasks on my M4 MacBook Pro. Other projects within it support AMD, others NVidia, some both, and I think one may have intel GPU compatibility too.

It is really project to project and task to task, but they definitely work if the project decides to support it, which I'm thankful to see SRBase is working on doing for Apple GPUs.
