Message 10899 - Posted: 4 Aug 2025, 14:49:17 UTC

We have changed the value in new batch TF_75-76_433-438M

from

<rsc_fpops_est>8e10</rsc_fpops_est>

to
<rsc_fpops_est>18e18</rsc_fpops_est>

for more accurate estimated runtimes to avoid getting too much work.

If there are any issues let us know.

8 orders of magnitude increase might have been too much. my host says about 4500 days to complete now LOL.

i had to divide this 18e18 number by about 81000 to approach something realistic in terms of runtime.

From my experience I have only ever received a "maximum of 80 tasks" before the introduction of this change.
I do have to agree with Ian my system is reporting a remaining runtime (estimated) of 384537 days 22 hours 58 minutes.
I am receiving anywhere from 2 to 10 tasks at a time. I am sure this will even out when my system get used to working on the new batch. Unit number 229 took 2 minutes 17 seconds to run on my card limited to 320 W

Yes, completely agree with Ian's assessment.

Way too much amplification by 8 orders of magnitude.

yes, you are right, changed the value to 2e15 for all workunits.

Even with the reduction of the value I am not able to build a cache. Each task takes roughly 2 minutes 17 seconds to complete however Boinc thinks it is going to take a 42 days 17 hours 25 minutes 48 seconds

It appears that time remaining is not decreasing, hopefully this will happen over time

The first one I have has an estimate of 1,201,912 days, it'll take about 7 minutes, after the last few original tasks complete.

In test I got a 560h run, normally it must be lower.

Is there a change in estimated runtime after 1 WU is completed?

It dropped to 1.185 million whilst the last old one completed.
It is now running so when the cache needs refilling I will see what the next estimate is....

It says just over 13 days.

It took 7 minutes 30 seconds.

ok, this is not as expected.

with this formula
<rsc_fpops_est> / <flops>

2e15/5e12 it would be fine but is not

What was displayed before the change?

The old ones were estimated at 7 minutes 41 seconds to complete.

It should, what's the code line?

Still back to 8e11, the old host told me 7h, also resetted the project, 1h is correct

The img link was the same as the url one, does it need a .jpg or .png on the end of it ?

How about an embedded version, that work...

<blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/w0DXIzf" ><a href="//imgur.com/a/w0DXIzf">TF times</a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

If you use the line below you get nothing...

If you use the same line but drop the s from https...

...you get a broken image that you can right-click on to open the image in a new tab that translates to https and shows it.

This is on Firefox.
