Hi everyone,

I’m currently planning a "Green Crunching" upgrade to a high-TDP (80W) Intel Panther Lake Mini PC, which I expect to have in hand by early February.

I’m particularly eager to test the Xe3 architecture (Arc B390) on SRBase. With the restoration of hardware-native FP64 support and the massive efficiency gains expected from the 18A node, I'm hoping these new iGPUs can provide a significant throughput-per-watt boost for the Sierpinski/Riesel base searches.

I’ll be running 64GB of DDR5-9600 to ensure the iGPU has a massive shared memory buffer. I'm happy to share clinfo logs and benchmarks once the hardware arrives in Denmark. Are there any specific subprojects the team recommends for testing this new Intel silicon?

We only have TF to run on Intel ARC.

Update: Hardware arrived, OpenCL stack verified, and testing status!

Just following up on this thread now that the Minisforum mini PC featuring the Intel Panther Lake Arc B390 iGPU (PCI ID: 0x8086:0xb082) is up and running under Ubuntu 26.04.

After ensuring the native xe kernel driver was active and installing the intel-opencl-icd runtime package, the OpenCL 3.0 NEO runtime successfully exposed the iGPU to BOINC:

OpenCL: Intel GPU 0: Intel(R) Graphics [0xb082] (driver version 26.05.037020, 28.13GB available, 1.92 TFLOPS peak)

While other BOINC projects like NumberFields@home and PrimeGrid are happily pulling and crunching iGPU tasks right away under a low-power 45W BIOS silent profile, checking in with SRBase currently results in got 0 new tasks (with the Trial Factoring / TF setup communicating properly, but no active tasks dishing out to the new Xe3 iGPU architecture just yet).

I'll keep an eye on the queues if any TF work units drop for this device tier down the road!

iGPUs are excluded in plan_class. They are too slow to run with TF. Other projects could have some smaller task/hardware requirements.

Ah, that completely explains it! Thanks for clarifying that iGPUs are excluded from the TF planclasses due to performance targets.

Good to know for future reference. At least the OpenCL NEO runtime is fully verified and working on the system, while PrimeGrid and NumberFields are more than happy to keep the iGPU busy instead. Appreciate the clarification, rebirther!

Just got a TF task on my B390 iGPU, estimated at around 4 hours for completion, so now I can verify that it works at least.

I see, the chip has the same name intel arc, interesting.

However, task manager and GPU-Z are both reporting 0% GPU usage, CPU usage is around 6% for this single task, and I have only enabled Intel GPU tasks for SRBase, so not sure why this utilization is showing 0%.

You got any idea why?

However, GPU-Z says that GPU temp is at 70 degrees Celsius, and It's using about 35 watts.

Check your stderr.txt if there is something writing and it needs a full CPU core

Thanks for the guidance! Checked the stderr.txt and everything is running clean. It successfully grabbed the assignment (M207421729), passed the self-test, and is actively chugging along on the Intel Arc B390 iGPU via OpenCL.

You can see an ETA in the first line.
